I learned about the news of an upcoming Pinoy Big Brother La Salle-Dasma Edition from Newsette, Dela Salle's bimonthly magazine publication (Vol. 17 No.18 April 1, 2008 edition). My brother is taking up BS-ECE in La Salle-Dasma and immediately informed me about this. I took a hi-resolution picture of the front and back page of the magazine publication for you to read the details. Labels: Gossips, Philippines

Shopping sfree

We went out today this morning to go to SM Southmall in Las Pinas. My mom won again a Natasha shopping spree that we can use to buy specific goods we wish to buy. We are given a huge number of SM gift certificates totaled to almost a ... secret! Sorry, I can't disclose the total amount we received from the shopping spree because of some privacy issues.
Anyways, we arrived there together with my mom and my brother and gather around the mall entrance before it opens. We look for something that we could buy using these gift certificates. Our first choice is to buy a new CPU (complete set) so we can have a new and updated hardware. The plan is that the other PC we use currently (the one that I mentioned in my previous post that have a motherboard problem) will be transferred onto my mom's Natasha service center office in Romblon to provide some ease in regards to the inventory management and other paper work. I have my own plans outlined in my brain as to what brand of motherboard, processor and memory the new CPU must contain. Unfortunately, the gift certificates handed over by Natasha employees/officers are entitled only to SM's affiliated establishments within it's premises. Only SM appliances section and ACE hardware store are the only viable venue for us to purchase goods.
So my dream of upgrading my PC into a powerhouse dissapeared. But it's not that bad, maybe it's not time yet.
We roam inside the appliance store to look for some goods we are able to purchase as long as the price won't go over the value of our gift certificates.
We scan every appliances possible. From digital cameras, video cameras, surround sound systems, amplifiers, electric floor polisher and some high end TV's. Then, we came into a decision that we will purchase a brand new TV. It's fine with me because our two flat panel television sets were damaged by lightning a month ago. We chose a TV and a Natasha representative assist us in the payment of our purchase. It was good especially on our part because we didn't spend a single penny on purchasing a brand new TV.

Fergie , member of the successful Black Eyed Peas, has released a solo album named "The Dutchess" due to be released on September 2006 under Interscope records.
I heard news about her new album before in a website and from some music channels. I did a search in the web about the track list on Fergie's album. I only found one at that moment entitled "London Bridge". Intrigued and at the same time a little bit interested on what the new single will sound like, I get a copy and listen to the song (by the way I only have the London Bridge track, not the whole album). The beat of the song is kinda unique as compared her previous songs in the Black Eyed Peas albums. The video of London Bridge, which I happen to see recently, shows a different Fergie... a more sexy and daring Fergie ferg.Well, yeah she did some sexy and daring acts before in some Black Eyed Peas videos, but not that extensive.
Did you notice what she's wearing on the London Bridge video where see dances on the top of a meeting table? Have you seen Fergie wearing some of that outfit in the previous videos of Black Eyed Peas? Even the cover CD itself says it all (which I like by the way).
Having a solo album and a solo singing career for the moment, does mean she's leaving BEP? I think not.
Here's the list of the tracks: "The Dutches" Album
1."London Bridge"
2."Fergalicious"
3."Mary Jane's Shoes"
4."Glamorous (Featuring Ludacris)"
5."Clumsy"
6."Thriller Man (Featuring B Real)"
7."Big Girls Don't Cry"
8."Here I Come"
I do think that this track list is incomplete. I heard there's 10 or 12 tracks.

Major Worm Attack Imminent: Experts Warn of "The Big One"

"This is no drill," said Mike Murray, director of research at vulnerability management vendor nCircle. "And no, this isn't an overreaction. We've always said that some day there would be another big, serious vulnerability. "Well, this is the one." The bug in question is one of 23 patched Tuesday by Microsoft, and one of 16 tagged by the Redmond, Wash. software developer as "critical." It affects all currently-supported versions of Windows, can be exploited without end users lifting a finger, and in some experts' eyes, rivals the bug that led to 2003's destructive MSBlast attack. Recent developments have turned up the heat over the vulnerability spelled out in Microsoft's MS06-040 security bulletin. Wednesday, Department of Homeland Defense (DHS) called out a rare warning, and Microsoft acknowledged that the patch should be at the top of every computer user's or administrator's to-do list. Wednesday, the DHS, which also operates the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), took the unusual step of issuing its own warning. "Windows users are encouraged to avoid delay in applying this security patch," said the DHS release. "This vulnerability could impact government systems, private industry, and critical infrastructure, as well as individual and home users." Earlier that day, Microsoft said "we are recommending that customers give priority to MS06-040." Thursday's deepening concern was fueled by several releases of new exploit code. HD Moore, co-creator of the Metasploit Framework, took his exploit for the MS06-040 vulnerability public early in the day. Later, after Symantec's research team confirmed that Moore's code, which targets Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, results in a denial-of-service (DoS) attack, repeated its previous warning to "patch as soon as possible." Other analysts agreed, and more.
As the spotlight on a dangerous Windows vulnerability grows brighter by the hour, security analysts Thursday said that it's not hype driving the alarms, but genuine fear that a major worm attack is just days away.

Digg's Rose VS Netscape's Calacanis

I went to one of my favorite social content website Digg to find some interesting articles to peek and bookmark when I stumble upon several mostly 'digged' articles. Stories about the recent pissing match between rival websites digg.com and netscape.com. Clever PR stunt, but man, in the end I believe it's going to do more damage for Netscape than good. Ya see users like Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit and Flickr because they are contributing to true, free, democratic social platforms devoid of monetary motivations. All users on these sites are treated equally, there aren't anchors, navigators, explorers, opera-ers, or editors. Jason, I know AOL has given you access to their war-chest, but honestly, take that money and invest it into site development. Listen to your existing community. Think of what your loyal Netscape users must think - you're essentially telling them that they aren't good enough and that you have to pay better users. You can have the best submitters in the world, but if your community doesn't support you it will never work. More on Kevin's blog.
Jason Calacanis, general manager of Netscape, wrote an article on his blog making an indecent proposal against users of Digg. He wrote that he will pay $1000 a month to those top 10 contributors on social bookmarking on Digg if they move to Netscape. Calacanis believe that those top contributors must be paid for what they've contributed to the site. More on Calacanis blog.
Kevin Rose, Digg co-founder, shot back by writing to him on his blog.Jason,
It seems that Mr. Calacanis is making a publicity here. Maybe because his social site is no match compared with Digg? recieve low page hits? Whatever the reason is, Digg will stay on top. Even if he hires dozens of social bookmarker's it won't matter. Digg is here to stay and still revolutionize the way internet users do social bookmarking. Digg's the best!
