This is my first time to test and experience Globe Tattoo Wireless Broadband Prepaid which I bought last Sunday from Globe Business Center in SM Muntinlupa. I want to try this if it really works, surfing with faster download speeds indicated by Globe. I’m going back to Romblon this weekend and I’ll be carrying this Globe USB dongle with me. I do have wired unlimited monthly internet subscription in Romblon on our shop. However, the connection was slow especially during peak hours. The local internet provider there is powered by Smart, solely relying on its wireless signal to provide internet for local subscribers. P1500/month on 128kbps is expensive. I’ll be using this Globe Tattoo in Romblon and hopefully this could acquire HSDPA signal. According to Globe Tattoo website, the province of Romblon is covered by HSDPA. I’ll soon find out.

I’m thrilled to see my DSL modem speed indicators shows that our Internet connection now streams data of up to a megabyte downstream and 512 kbps upstream. It was an unexpected event although earlier we planned to upgrade our land line as soon as possible. I never thought that the upgrade will include the increase in DSL speeds until I found out later on during the course of the negotiations.

Oh men. I was suppose to post a meme tag from Adianka. However, I lost my interest already. Sorry for that. Now, to keep my posting frequency at least once a week, I decided to create a new post from scratch. I remember my reliable software application “Google Earth” and it’s been there in my PC for month’s, unused. I use Google Earth for directions and for sight-seeing. It gives you a birds eye view of a country, city, or the very location where you are now. So why not make this a post for this week? And so I did. I decided to share some of the places I’ve been to with details about my experiences and blah-blah’s happened on that location. It includes images taken from Google Earth.

A new fiber optic cable is being constructed to connect directly the US and Asia above the Pacific sea floor. For those of you who doesn’t know, there are numerous undersea cables that are interconnected to different countries to provide cheap telecommunication services and Internet access. That is why we can connect to other countries via voice communication, data transmissions and the like. This new connection they claim is relatively safe from earthquake damage. This is in reaction to the recent event happened last December 2006 when an undersea cable linking Taiwan and the the rest of the Asian countries snapped due to an earthquake. This brought a massive slowdown on the communications and data services around that region. It took days before partial restoration has been acquired.

I received an email from the marketing department of AdAuction.ph. The person who emailed me offered a service that can place ads on websites and blogs. Well specifically aimed at local bloggers in the country. It works much like Google Adsense. However, most of the products here are on sale from Auction.ph, an adjacent site of AdAuction. Auction.ph is an online market service in which Filipino’s can use to buy or sell products and services online. Much like eBay and Amazon.

I hate when this happens. Digitel services here in our area was down for at least 26 hours. For me it was difficult to cope with knowing that you have yourself a computer but nothing else to do with it. For the past years, I mostly use our computer for internet usage. I spend at least 4 hours reading, surfing, blogging on the internet and such DSL service interruptions is not beneficial. I feel restless yesterday my routine was come to a halt. It’s different though when I’m in a days or weeks vacation, I can quietly cope with that but not more than a month. Even if an internet cafe is around, I don’t usually go there just to surf. In case there’s a need to do so but not always actually.
Good thing today I heard the phone rang, indicating that the line was now OK. Yipee!

Some websites I normally visit confirms that Microsoft indeed planned to develop the next version of Internet Explorer which is version 8. Internet Explorer 8.0 will be introduced at MIX 07, at the Venitian Hotel in Las Vegas between April 30 and May 2. One of the sessions at MIX 07 is addressed to designers and developers and is entitled: “First Look at the Future of IE.”
