Just an ordinary day

I had to admit that I am slightly thrilled when the day starts yesterday knowing that the country will unite and stand still again for a moment. I just had this hunch that Pacquiao will win again for sure that I never bothered to hurry myself to charge the phone that has Smart myTV on it. Previous live fights of Manny, we used to watch through the small screen of the Nokia N because myTV offers live broadcast of the match. Not until this Pacquiao-Hatton match.

I woke up late, 7 in the morning and hurriedly fix myself to go to the wet market. I remembered we only had a handful of goods in the fridge and might as well stock it up for another 3 days at least. I went to buy some poultry products and some fishes. I’m trying to restrain myself from buying pork at first because my dad was so into this “swine flu” epidemic. According to WHO, you won’t get the virus if the meat was properly cooked. I saw that many are buying pork so I decided to buy half a kilo of “liempo”. Heehee!

I went home, cleaned the meat and store it on the fridge. I left some “tamban” to be marinated in salt and for frying it afterward. My folks here as well as some of my relatives are anxious about the match and some are texting me about what will be the outcome of Manny’s fight against Ricky. Without much further ado, I opened up the laptop and decided I should search for some free live broadcast of the fight on one of the websites. There are a lot on the web that offers this free live broadcast of the Pacquiao-Hatton match even if it is illegal because it is a paid broadcast through HBO’s pay-per-view. I found one and good thing the video is streaming with sound but with slightly less video quality. I decided to embed the video on my website by adding a page just for the Pacquiao-Hatton fight. I did that so my friends and relatives would never have a hard time typing the links into their web browser. All was good until the feed was cut off with no apparent reason. The main event was about to start now. Maybe, those in the pay-per-view singles out those sites that broadcast illegally and shuts it off. I quickly head to my other sources and been able to watch it at last.

I never felt the excitement really when Martin Nievera started singing our national anthem. I mean what’s with the music accompanied Martin? From the previous fights I only heard only the voices (need clarifications), not together with music. It’s not that bad really and I’m not pointing out the way Martin sang the anthem. It’s just the accompanied music with that I think sort of ruin it. That’s my thought. As soon as the fight started, it felt that I was just watching a normal day-to-day match on ESPN or some other sports channel. My adrenalin pumped out a bit when Pacman knocked out Hatton twice in the first round. And then when Hatton finally left unconscious by Manny’s powerful punch to his jaw.

My parents shouted for joy as Pacquiao, evidently is the winner on that 2 round match against Hatton. I too was happy with the result as seen on the live broadcast. And I congratulate him for winning, again!

He won again! The feeling was not new to me like it was just an ordinary day. I think I’m fed up because Manny is always winning. Not that there’s something wrong about winning. I think that I knew already what will happen next. The usual celebrations mostly the politicians rejoicing that it’s worth it to shell out some cash for their trip to Las Vegas to watch Manny live (who knows really if the money used is really theirs). Then courtesy call from Gloria and some blah blah’s again. I wonder what will the president hand on to Manny next, a medal of what? Hmm…
