Event-filled week
I had an event-filled/busy week last February. The 4th week of February to be precise where I attended a Christening, visited our soon be be house, fixed and cleaned our new shop in Sto. Tomas in the province of Batangas, purchased needed hardware for my PC in Odiongan, installed and tried a new OS in our new PC. Also this week, I had gone to Romblon, Romblon along with my relatives to attend my cousin’s first death anniversary and reformatted my 2 PC’s here in Odiongan.
Justin’s Christening
It was held at the church in San Vicente in Binan Laguna around 11:00 am Sunday February 22, 2009. I was accompanied by my two brothers whom the one next to me 9in the family) is a godfather of the baby to be christened and my mother who at that time agreed to come. It was nice to see again my cousins after a long period. Some of the “kids” I remember back then were matured right now. I do carry my digital camera to capture the moment when baby Justin is welcomed to the christian world. Lunch at my cousin’s house where at the same time they celebrated her brother’s birthday which happened a day before the christening.
Moving
It was estimated that the month of April or May of this year the house will be built completely up to the last detail. It was started November of last year and with a contractor who is a friend of dad’s and 18 workers working on the site. This new house is located in Villa Olympia just near the boundary of San Pedro and Binan in Laguna. New place, new environment, new aquaintances. At least we will never ( or maybe for a long long long time) experience a knee deep of flood every time the sky dumps tons of water in the area. So much for the action of our local officers there where up to now haven’t fixed the drainage problem in our current area. When the day comes for the moving, its sayonara flood.
JKL Shoppe Inn
I disagree with the new name my mom will put up once the shop in Sto. Tomas, Batangas opened/registered in the BIR/DTI/Mayor’s Permit, whatever. It reads and sounds like a “motel” name. Anyways that name was what my mom wants so there’s no problem.
Two days I’m there together with my parents and a helper to clean the glass doors and windows, paint the walls and scrub the floors. This place was once a computer shop as evidence with the online games poster taped on the wall and what I don’t like is taped on the glass doors. Scotch tapes are hard to remove on the glass surface especially if it sticks there long enough.
New hardware
I purchased a Maxtor Basics Portable 160 GB Drive to have as a storage backup for my precious files. I also need this if ever I get back to Laguna and download gigabytes of files (since we have a very fast internet connection there for downloading). The next day, I purchased Samsung 22x DVD-RW Drive. The DVD-RW on the shop in Odiongan malfunctioned while I’m burning files onto a blank DVD-R. It won’t read any discs either so I assumed it’s time for a replacement. Only to find out a week later when I get back here in Odiongan that the drive functioned well. Darn waste of money!
Ubuntu Madness
I read Jaypee’s blogpost about Wubi, a tool to install Ubuntu Linux easily and seamlessly without harming your drive’s existing partition or even modify your current OS’s installation files. I tried it, downloaded 700 megs of ISO file from the ubuntu website. Downloaded Wubi and with a new PC my dad won on an auction (to be used as an office computer) I installed Ubuntu and within 30 minutes I can access and surf my way through the new OS. Feels limited because most applications I’m used to and mostly what is now on the market is not linux compatible. So I tried to install Wine through the Terminal in Ubuntu (much like Command Prompt in Windows) to download repositories. So far I can run Winamp and FLV player with no problems. Not contented, I installed Virtual Box that makes you run any OS within an OS. Pretty cool huh? I’ve tried it but never had the chance to fully install Windows inside Ubuntu. Anyways, just for me know that I could really run an OS within an OS for sure. Maybe next time.
When I arrived in Odiongan last Sunday, I planned the next morning to go to the capital of Romblon to attend my cousin’s 1st death anniversary. The whole family of my cousin plus some of my relatives were also there. I left the next morning back here in Odiongan.
That was some week. This coming April will be an event-filled month. Watch out for that post!

Nabasa ko nga sa dati mong blog na nasa Odiongan ka, so I really thought taga Odiongan ka talaga. I am from Concepcion kasi, yung dialect namin same ng sa Odiongan.
Thanks for the hop JP.
Ah ganun po ba.. Nakakaintindi ako nung ibang words pero tagalog po usually reply ko d2. hehe. Thanks for the comment.
Hi JP,
Thanks for the mention! I’m having issues with trackbacks/pingbacks so I didn’t know you linked back to my post until I checked on Technorati. Anyways, glad I could share Wubi to you. Seems like your enjoying Ubuntu now.
Have a nice day and God bless!
