Hospitalized

My first time actually except when I was born. And no, this is not the reason why I haven’t updated my blog for a month now.

I could not believe that it happened unexpectedly right here in Odiongan, Romblon. I’m thankful that my mom arrived last August 17 Sunday and stayed for one week here when that day happened.

It was 4 am of August 20, 2008 Wednesday when I woke up from a stomach pain. I headed to the bathroom to expel my waste thinking it will ease the pain. After 3 concurrent visit to the toilet, the pain won’t go away. My mom who happened to be there adviced me to drink warm water with a little salt dissolved in it. It never worked. I vomit afterwards after taking some liquid. I can’t bear the pain after several minutes of vomiting. It was 6 am in the morning, my mom decided to take me to a hospital. I was brought to a nearby hospital 2 blocks away from our shop. We were assited by a nurse and a female doctor who then confined me later on. I never had a stomach pain so excrutiating before. The doctor asked me few questions as to where I lived, my age and then injected a needle for the dextrose directly on one of my arteries in my hand. I never experienced that before. I mean I experienced needle injections before through some immunizations but never with a tube that connects to a dextrose. Gastroenteritis was the diagnosis as the nurse listens to my stomach by using this device. She said it was sort of boiling inside my stomach. They injected me intravenous drugs that will counter the pain and some antibiotics. The pain fade away after a few minutes and slept. The nurse that took care of me needed some stool sample for laboratory test. It is usually needed to determine which bacteria caused the stomach discomfort. However, I can’t poop after they’ve given me antibiotics. No matter how long I stayed in the toilet, there’s none. I’ve stayed there until 4 am then discharged. Stool sample is no longer necessary. And by the way laboratory tests for stool sample can cost hundred bucks and I don’t want to extend my stay so as to cut the hospital bill. We spent a total of 2 thousand plus for the hospital bill.

Good thing it wasn’t that serious. Phew!
