Aglicay Beach Resort

Alcantara hosts one of the best beaches located in Barangay Comod-om in the island of Tablas in Romblon province. Known as “Aglicay Beach Resort“, it hosts fine white powedery sand and crystal clear waters. Hills on both sides of the resort add beauty to its majestic location. Perfect for picnics, seminars, or just an alternative destination to relax and have fun. Last June14, 2008 Saurday, we went to the resort unplanned. I fell in love with the place as soon as I arrived there.

I was overjoyed to hear that we’re going to Aglicay Beach Resort that afternoon. We brought our food for lunch and bought some snacks. This is a pre-celebration of me and my auntie’s birthday in the coming days. It was a delightful experience to finally go there and feel the white sand on my feet. The heat from the sun shines with no sign of large clouds over the horizon. It’s a perfect day for swimming.

I planned to go there before with some friends but haven’t because I left the camera. We canceled the trip and went on a rocky beach near Tugdan Airport in Alcantara.

The beach contains a lot of small and large starfish that are scattered around the area. The place was neatly planned and landscaped. A volleyball play area is available on the sands of Aglicay. A restaurant with a karaoke is easily accessible through the cottages in the area. What’s beautiful about Aglicay is the number of coconut trees that lined up the shore. It is like Boracay in Aklan.

We had fun playing with pictures. We decided to take pictures of ourselves while jumping so the camera can caught us floating in the air. Setting the timer and jump as soon as the flash sets in. However, we had difficulty taking the right shots and the right timing to jump. I never tried doing that in my digital camera. Anyways, we enjoyed what we did even if some people from the nearby cottage smiles at us.

This is one of my greatest shots in Aglicay Beach Resort. The person in the picture is my Aunt Gennie. It may not be a superb one but for me it is a revelation. I almost sat on the ground just to shoot the image with the tall coconut tree.

Before we went back home, I along with my younger cousins traverse the road leading up to a small hill that oversees the whole resort. The trek to the hill makes you think it is as easy as one two three. As soon as we arrived at it’s highest point, my sweat drips like rain drops on a car’s windshield. I was exhausted. However, the view of the sea and the surrounding mountains made me forget the tiring journey we endured. Taking shots of here and there. We also went down on the other side of the resort.

If you’re interested and want to go there, you can go to Aglicay Beach Resort website to inquire about the rates and how to get there.
