I was lucky enough to arrive in Looc, Romblon last April 24, 2008 to witness the Talabukon Festival held in the municipality’s town proper. Every 3rd week of April, folks in Looc also celebrate their fiesta in honor of St. Joseph. Cultural dances and parades lined up the streets as different tribes showcase their skills for their tribe dance contest to be held that day. A beauty pageant was held in the covered court in the town plaza that night which highlights the week long celebration. I also had a photo-op with Maricel something, a beauty queen on a pageant before in Manila. I forgot the last name (Maricel Morales, thanks Auntie for reminding me). Also, Congressman Roilo Golez was there to celebrate the festivities. Mr. Golez was a relative of my uncle’s wife which arrived days earlier to attend the reunion.

Our branch in Looc is located right in the center of the town so I can see all the events held in the town plaza. Later that afternoon, I had the chance to go to the outskirts of Looc and see some relatives. I was invited by my uncle to a booze session along with other new acquaintances. I also had a chance to eat carabao meat along with its broth. It doesn’t taste like pork or beef, the taste was new to me. Anyways, I went back to the shop drunk and slept on a bench the whole night. I missed the coronation night of Ms. SK. Huhu!
