Supporting OPM Artists
Let’s support OPM artists by purchasing original copies not pirated ones. For those of you who doesn’t know, I started purchasing original OPM Audio CD’s seriously exactly a year ago. I don’t purchase all of them, just the ones that I like. I began this liking of having the latest albums of different OPM artists to be included in my music collection. I truly love music and every album release from my favorite artists initiates me to save some money so I can buy the album as soon as possible. I don’t usually stick to where I purchased an original CD. I roam around the malls nearest to my place or If I happen to be inside the mall to look for music stores. I go to Music One, Tower Records or Odyssey… they may be different but the CD I want to buy there are just the same. The feeling after purchasing an original audio CD is rewarding. You have an original audio CD and at the same time support the OPM artist and the OPM music industry.
My first original OPM audio CD came from Music One in Greenbelt 3. The album was “Nina Live Album” which I purchased back in February 2005. Back then, I never really entertained the idea of seriously supporting OPM artists by purchasing the original. I only download songs from Limewire, that makes me a pirate. Hearing the news about Nina’s latest album made me search around the net until I landed on Limewire. But Limewire doesn’t have it. I need to have one just to have the latest from Nina. So I bought one.
A year later, August 2006, the a Club MYX CD was the one I want to have. Thanks to MYX Channel for promoting it and previewing some of the songs in the album, I was able to purchase the original. Since then, I vowed to myself to purchase only the original from OPM artists.
It soon followed, MYMP’s New Horizon album which I bought the day after Christmas Day, Christian Bautista’s Just A Love Song Live Album, Jed Madela’s Only Human and currently the latest… Sitti’s My Bossanova album. I do have some albums from Akon, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, P.Diddy, Kanye West, and many more (Hiphop, Rnb, Pop) which I have in my collection. Since they were expensive than OPM audio CD’s, I still have them, well you know? Haha. So a little review of Sitti’s new album.
Sitti Navarro launched her 5th album last August 1, 2007 titled “My Bossanova” from Warner Music Philippines. The album comprises of 18 tracks both new and revived songs from various foreign and OPM artists. Sitti has been popular among OPM artists when it comes to Bossanova genre. Quite a few artists on the industry today that delved into this genre but Sitti is among the ones who pulled it up and brought fame on the OPM music scene.
Tracks included in the album:
1. Cross My Heart
2. Time And Tide
3. With Or Without You
4. My Ever Changing Mood
5. Baby I Love Your Way*
6. 2 Become One*
7. Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw*
8. Hinahanap Hanap Kita*
9. Take A Bow*
10. I Won’t Stand In Your Way*
11. Smooth Operator
12. Tayo’y Mag Samba
13. If You Leave Me Now*
14. When I Fall In Love
15. Ikaw Lamang*
16. I Need To Be In Love*
17. A Song For Penny Brow
18. The Look Of Love
One of my favorite songs in the album where indicated by an asterisk after each track. I recommend having this one from legitimate music stores, not the ones found on sidewalks or along streets. Please support Sitti and the OPM music industry.

Wow! I admire your support for OPM artist. Honestly, I’ve been a non supporter (in a sense I don’t but them. hehe) of artist. The only cd I bought before was Blink 182 when I was still in high school. Ever since I had broadband, I believed that everything can be downloaded instead hehe Sorry bad pirate. lolz
@allen: di namn masyado. haha. ewan, gs2 ko kc makuha agad ung orig album lalo na pag new release. and cguro nagugilty na rin ako kc taon taon nalulugi ung Pinoy music industry sa piracy. pero mostly mga songs ko came from limewire. add to that, my CD burning business pa ako w/c is running na for 3 years. That makes me a more bad pirate than you. hehe.
I am proud to say na I only buy originals kahit na OPMs or not…at I buy a lot from iTunes din.
@Rececca: hi po. i’m glad you buy originals. if ever mura ang mga orig cd’s i won’t hesitate na bilhin ang mga foreign albums. wala rin pong pinoy version ang itunes music store d2 sa pinas. mas mganda sna kng meron pra ma-encourage cla bumili ng legitimate songs.
I”nagugilty na rin ako kc taon taon nalulugi ung Pinoy music industry sa piracy”/IBR/BR/korek! very well said… ako, i only download foreign mp3s… hehehe.. (still bad pa din yun!hahahha!) kasi naman hirap talaga ang mga OPM artist natin na maiwasan ang ganitong mga activities (downloading and file sharing)… i support you for this advocacy!BR/BR/off topic: im still thinking of coming to taste asia 2. 65% chance of joining… tingnan ko pa kasi yung skeds ko… hehehhe…
Absolutely agree on this one jp aka elmo. Law should be firmly enforced on piracy. Don’t support it. You don’t know where the money is being used.
