Bridge Closed

“Server cannot found”, this is the error that welcomed my Tuesday morning when I opened up Firefox. I clicked “Refresh” and still Firefox can’t connect on the Internet. I logged on to my router using the browser and all was fine. I tried rebooting my router many times still no connection. I contact their uber busy DSL help hotline and this is what I get. “Sir, we are still working on a network fault blah blah that affected both voice and data services”. “For how long?”, “As long as it takes sir but rest assured our technicians are working round the clock”. This can’t be happening! Been through this, I expected the service will be resumed the next day. I suddenly changed my plans for the day. I glanced through the mirror and saw my lengthy fully grown hair. I need a haircut. Half-way through my leaving preparations, I remembered I ran out of blank CDR’s for my CD burning business. So, instead of going to the barbershop first, I decided to go to Pavillion mall before I take a haircut.

I left home around noon, rode a jeepney en route to Binan’s main road. Just passed by Areza Complex, the traffic slowed to a crawl. I remembered that 500 meters away is the intersection which links the road to the main proper, the Carmona exit and the straight road to Santa Rosa. It is usually the traffic light along with the traffic enforcer ,the cause of everyday traffic around this area. One hour and a half, the jeepney I’m in move just 50 meters from where we’ve previously stopped. The jeepney driver shut his engine off every time to conserve gasoline. It’s getting hot inside, my sweat is dripping and my skin started to get sticky. I sense that there’s an accident along the way. Nothing else to do, I grabbed my phone to listen to my mp3’s but I forgot to bring along my earphone. I just closed my eyes and hope that traffic will soon ease. 300 meters from the intersection, a nursing student went down and walk along with the other passengers. I saw mostly students who walked under the sun’s scorching heat. Just after the intersection is the Perpetual College of Binan and students hurried so as to avoid being late. I want to pee that time and joined the walkathon to the intersection. I went inside Olivarez Plaza compound first to find a restroom.

As soon as I finished peeing, I went out and walk to the road leading to my destination. I saw this huge sign board on the middle of the road that says “Bridge Closed”. Upon reading that, my imaginations kicked in. Did the bridge collapsed? Is there a casualty? How many died? That’s absurd. Good thing I snapped out of it. Haha. I saw many tricycles lined up beside the road, started offering a ride for only 7 pesos to reach the bridge. Tricycle drivers seized this moment to earn extra income. I didn’t bother because the bridge is only 50 meters from where I am, might exercise my legs and thighs a bit. Reaching the bridge, I saw this huge forklift machinery that is idle in the middle. Pre-construction is being initiated. I rode a tricycle as I passed by the bridge to carry me to Pavillion mall. I reached the mall, went inside and bought 10 CDR’s and 10 slim cases from CDR King. Roamed around for 30 minutes then went out. Waited for a tricycle to carry me again to the bridge. I ask manong driver as to what was the decision to close the bridge. He told me that the government of Binan decided to upgrade the bridge starting today from a two-lane bridge to a four-way. It will took at least 4 months before the upgrade is complete. “For that long?’. “Eh di tiba-tiba kayo ngayon kasi this is the mode of transportation preferable mostly may students around the area”. Manong just smiled back at me. I reached the bridge and did a 50 meter walk to the intersection. I rode a jeep, went down on Universal Bakery and went to my favorite barbershop.br /br /Today, I launched Google Earth and plotted the new course of new redirected route. 1.5 approximate kilometers was added to the route from the Binan intersection up to the road just around the Morales area. See the map below.

Malapit ba ang Binan sa LB? Diba ibang ruta (route) yun? Hehe. Curious lang. Anyway.BR/BR/I’m simply contented with my Smart BRO connection in Bulacan. Medyo hassle nga lang pag nakakalimutang mag-bayad – putol agad.BR/BR/:P
