Guess what? I’m a housemaid… for a limited time only. There’s no other choice. Since I’ll be gonna stuck here at home (sucking all the fun?) being all alone in this house during weekdays. Might as well start again what the previous maid has left a month ago. Still no job yet, maybe this would help…almost. Haha!

Just to give you a brief summary about our last housemaid, let’s call her”A”. “A” was hired 3 months ago. We already have one (let’s call her “J”) and she’s been serving us for nearly 2 years. However, “J” decided to resign and go home to her family in the Visayas region a month before her expected departure. It’s not a biggie problem, knowing that we are heavily relied to her as our helper. At least she told us earlier. That helped my mom find a new one by contacting her so called “sources” in Romblon. Then we have “A”, a high school valedictorian and never had a chance to go to college due to financial reasons. I thought “Sayang naman.” She graduated high-school being the top of her batch and she ended up being a maid. Life, I can’t blame anyone right now. Ok, so she was all that’s left to do the housework. She performed well but not very well compared to our previous maid “J”. June of this year, “A” decided to go along with my mom to Romblon. Probably she only wanted to help my mom out on our business there, that’s what I thought. “A” promised to go back with her after a week. Liar! The day before their departure going back here, my mom received a news that “A” won’t come back. My mom got mad and I never had a chance to know what happened next. We found out later that “A” never lasted for at least 4 months being a maid according to her boyfriend. So that’s why, but for what reason? We may never know why. “A” did ask my mom if she will apply again as our maid, she wondered if we will accept her again. My mom answered “No!”. Come on, after what she just did to my mom. And so, we struggle to find one immediately unto this day. Whew! That was very brief isn’t it?

And now, since I am the eldest and don’t have a job yet, the role of a housemaid was vested upon me. I thought it was okay, in the hopes that my mom will find a new one immediately. I also projected that it will be a relatively easy task for me to perform as a temporary housemaid. I WAS WRONG! The more the days passed by, the more I got stressed out. My body is starting to worn out easily. To revitalize , I take a nap after each work. I guess my body isn’t in-tune yet with the new routine… that’s why I’m experiencing difficulties. Then add my 2 siblings to my dilemma…waah! I wanna scream! It’s almost a month now and we still we haven’t one one. I started to complain then.

“Ma, kausapin mo nga ‘yang dalawang anak mo na tumulong naman sa bahay. Hindi ‘yung parati ako lang.!”

I understand that my siblings have their classes and all that’s left inside our house during weekends is me…all alone to do the chores. I’ve been battling my siblings laziness as well as mine. Keep asking and reminding them to do their chores/responsibilities. Still, I ended up carrying most of the burden. That’s what you get if you’re a very passive Kuya.

Here’s the list of my chores aside from the usual housework chores:

*go to different banks (BDO, UCPB, PNB, BPI, LandBank, Security Bank) to encash, withdraw, transfer and pay bills especially when my mom is in Romblon. (at least 2 times a week).
*go to the Wet Market to purchase goods (seafood, poultry, vegetables, fruit) for a weeks supply of food. (at least once a week)
*do some groceries for our sari-sari store (at least twice a week)
*load up load credits for our smartload dealer and retailer sims (at least twice a week)
*cook the food 3 times a day
*wax the floor at least once a week
*was the dishes 3 times a day 7 times a week (still my palms are smooth)
*do my own laundry with my own clothes every thursday (although we hire a laundry woman every fridays)
*clean /defrost our 2 refrigerator every 2 weeks
*clean up the house (major cleaning) at least every 2 weeks
*many more (minor)
