Busy Week

My scheds are full this week. From the usual banking transactions, to my job exam and interview in Fujitsu, doing my laundry and buy some groceries for our sari-sari store… all of these are tiring. I’m also recovered from the event happened last June 13, 2007 Wednesday where robbers “Salisi Gang” took a huge amount of cash and 4 cellphones inside our house. I think it’s ok now to disclose that event. For now I’ll share to you what happened to me during my exam and interview at Fujitsu Ten Philippines, Inc located at Philippine Stock Exchange Center in Ortigas.

9 hour exam + interview

I was informed the day before June 20 that I am scheduled to take an exam at Fujitsu Ortigas, at least before 8 am. On the day of the interview, I arrived on the area an hour early. I then proceeded to the applicants section and fill up a form. The position I filed was “IT Operator/IT staff“. Then I look on the attached paper on the form, I saw the needed vacant positions an applicant must file. Fujitsu is expanding its boundaries and the need for these positions were urgent. Knowing I had no choice, I looked for the position in relation with my course. I found this one, “Associate Systems Engineer“. Wow! Heavy! Requirements include competency in VB.Net, C#, Assembly Language, C++… these are the languages that made my eyes drool with blood. Still, no choice, I wrote it as my preferred position. I started my exam along with 6 others scheduled that time from 8 am to 5 pm.

Would you believe that? 9 hours straight with no break. Well I insisted that I should go on to the next exam even if the HR offered me a break. I thought that the next exam might last for an hour. The HR person left and when I started answering the Personality Test, I’m shocked to see two folders with at least 300 items on it. That’s not all, there are also 300 questions, each costs you a substantial amount of time to think it out before you can answer. I can ask permission to take a break first before taking the exam. But because the HR person was already gone, I am forced to answer it up to the last. My mind was taking a beating that time. Exhausted and hungry, I thought I can’t go on. I was answering series of exams since 8 am that day. Inside the room where I’m taking the exam, there are two individuals also taking the test. I asked them and find out that they had taken their break before I walk inside the room. Waah! Around 4:45 pm, I finished my exam and at the same time the HR personnel came in and collected the test questionnaires. We are instructed to wait to be called for an interview. After 15 minutes, I was called and interviewed inside the meeting room. I am nervous at first but in the long run, it faded away. It didn’t last long and after that, she reminded me that they will re-evaluate my exams and to wait for a call from the HR within the week to know if I pass or not. The next day, my cousin (who happens to be an HR in Fujitsu but from a different branch) informed me that I passed. I should wait for the call on when will I take the next exam.

I you ask me, I want to be in a working environment surrounded by LAN cables, routers, hubs, switches, PC’s and unlimited high-speed internet. IT positions like IT associate, IT Operator and the like are the positions I want. The salary with these positions is comparable to a call center agent’s earnings but a few grand above that. I found it out from my friend who offered me a job as an IT operator. She had a friend whom she can refer my resume to a company in ELJ building within the ABS-CBN compound. It is a “call center” facility that employs hundreds of agents. Since I like to apply as an IT operator and not as an agent, I decided to agree.

Right now, I’m waiting and brainstorming on what decisions should I take. If I pass the final interview with Mr. Japanese president of Fujitsu Philippines, should I go on with it? Should I wait for my interview (if I already applied) and my future results in the other company where the position I want was within my reach? I’m confused, would you hug me? ehehe!

this is what I hate in applying for a job. I remeber the same experience I had in Jollibe Center near St. Francis Church in shaw.BR/BR/Some HRs are very inconsiderate of the applicants. I was also an HR in one of the Nestle branch way back in 2000. and I don’t do that marathon exam on my applicants. they would just turn bad during the interview if they are bombarded with questions with no break at all. Hindi naman board exam ang pinunta ng applicant dun eh kungdi trabaho.
