MYX: Music Channel goes International

Did you know that MYX channel, the number one music channel in the Philippines and owned by Asia’s biggest media company, debuts their newly created website for international viewers? That was so cool, isn’t it? I was hoping before that MYX music channel have it’s online presence in the web by means of a website. Now, they finally launched their website, MYX TV, last February 2, 2007. Apart from those who knew MYX already here in the Philippines, this music website debut aims at Asian-Americans living in the US.

“There’s an audience out there that’s hungry for music, in all different shapes and sizes,” noted MYX Channel Head, Audie Vergara. “Our website will play an integral part in helping to give our viewers more of waht they want. We want our community to take an active part in shaping the future of our channel. We recognize the power that interactivity has had and will have on the way we listen to music. Coincidentally, the rapid growth of the Asian-American youth population falls in tandem with these technological advances. There’s a big opportunity here to really influence the direction that this industry is headed in the near future.” link/

Now, from what I read from their website, this site launch is only the first peek or preview to the upcoming launch of the MYX channel in cable TV providers in the US. There are loads of new programs and mix of Asian and American VJ’s to blend in with the channel’s main theme.

These are the anticipated programs to be aired:

1. Back 2 Basics
2. Backspin
3. The HOOK
4. Loveable
5. Musicbang
6. myMYX
7. The Nutshack
8. OMG!
9. Rockslide

These programs are hosted by the most elaborate and energetic VJ’s which knows more about the Asian backgrounds and music. These personalities will definitely hook you up into watching and experience a new wave of music videos the US market has never seen before.

MYX doesn’t only showcase Asian music, but some internationally acclaimed music artists that made some names in the music industry. From what I’ve seen so far, the video advertisements and the graphics are all unique. It’s like a multiple music channels from the US and Asia merged and combined into one channel, which is MYX TV. I also seen an ad with special appearance of Apl.de.Ap’s mom in it. It was fantastic as she speaks tagalog language. You can catch some of the advertisements by going to YouTube and search for MYX TV.

I will wait for the launching of this music channel. I wonder if they will add this into the channel line-up in the Philippine cable providers. I think it’s much cooler if they will. At least we folks here could have a glimpse and taste on what the channel can bring. What about you, what do you think?
