Freon-less aircon at Padi’s Point
What’s the occasion and why I ended up in Padi’s Point? What’s with the freon-less aircon? Well, I just want to share to you something about my trip recently last Saturday, March 3, 2007.
We took off around 3 o’ clock pm together with my mom and dad to go to Cubao. We will visit my auntie there and also for my father to have a place to stay for six hours. My mom have this two tickets to the coronation night of the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant to be held at the Araneta Coliseum. It was my father who supposed to accompany my mom. But then, since my father hates sitting and watching for hours, it was decided that I take his place. First, I feel that I mustn’t go but then my father convince me too. Also, I should wear semi-formal attire. Wait, I don’t want to wear formal attire since I am not used to it. Still, the convincing power of my parents make me say yes literally and whine about it. I took my shirt, pants and black shoes and dress and decided to wear it at my aunties house.
We arrived at my aunties place and took my dress. I put on my pants, shoes and long sleeved shirt and took off to Araneta Center. We look first a place that we could eat on. We saw Padi’s Point near Klownz. While eating, I saw this aircon unit. Its’ not the typical aircon you see everyday as it only show this large fan blowing cool air around the establishment. I saw some notes below the unit, indicating that it doesn’t use freon or even a compressor to chill the air. Normally, most air conditioners rely its same technology to the fridge where it needs freon and a compressor. This one is different. According to what I read on the internet the next day is that it only consumes electricity like that of a light bulb and uses liters of water.
In very dry climates, evaporative coolers are popular for improving comfort during hot weather. The evaporative cooler is a machine that draws or forces outside air through a wet pad. Some of the sensible heat of the entering air (as measured by a dry bulb thermometer) is converted to latent heat by the evaporation of water in the wet cooler pads. The total heat (sensible heat plus latent heat) of the entering air is unchanged. If the entering air is dry enough, the resulting supply air can be quite comfortable. These coolers cost less than other air conditioners and are mechanically simple to understand and maintain.
This is a great for keeping your house cool for hours without spending so much on the electric bill. My father even took note of the telephone numbers written on the unit. I think he will inquire about this unique cooler or maybe suggest it to his company so that they could save electricity bills. For me, I wanna own one since summer is fast approaching and the start of spending much through electricity bills because my parents turn on the air conditioner at night to relieve the days heat. After eating, my mom and proceeded inside the coliseum
